New Inventory, Boxes of Kundun and drops as in MU

The Inventory (I key) now looks like MU: the paper doll and bag cells are dark, wood-colored, with a golden rim, and the doll is bigger. No item has a colored background behind it anymore. On the doll, each piece is cropped to its own art and fills its slot, and every upgraded item shows its +N in the corner. An item you cannot use appears grayed out, with a red outline and a red dot in the corner. On phones the bag sits below the doll; on wide, short screens, such as a laptop's, the doll sits beside the bag, as in the images.

Boxes of Kundun have arrived, as in MU. Only the Box of Kundun +1 drops: 30% from golden monsters, 1 in every 3,000 common monsters, and always from bosses. To open it, right-click it or drop it on the ground: the treasure scatters around you, only you can pick it up for the first 10 seconds, and it stays on the ground for 2 minutes in all. Each box holds Zen plus one prize: potions, a jewel, or a Magic or Rare item at +1 to +3. The level of the monster that dropped the box sets the equipment and the Zen that come out of it (the tooltip of a box dropped by a monster shows the level it came from). Never an Excellent item, a Chaos Jewel, a spirit or a Legendary item. Old +2 to +5 boxes you already have still open, with their old contents.

Drops follow MU's rules. Excellent items come from only two sources: a golden monster, on any map, has a 1% chance of leaving one; and every piece of equipment dropped by a monster of level 80 or higher has a 3% chance of being Excellent. Nowhere else: not in shops, not in quests, not inside the Box of Kundun +1 (wings are a separate category and are not part of this rule; old +3 to +5 boxes still open with their old contents). The Chaos Jewel only drops from monsters of level 50 or higher, and no merchant sells jewels.

The Chaos Machine, with the Chaos Goblin in Noria, uses MU's rates: 60% for +10 and +11, 55% for +12 and +13, and 50% for +14 and +15. An Excellent or Legendary item gets 10 points less (wings do not), and the window shows the reduced chance before you confirm. The Zen cost rises by 2 million per level: +10 costs 2 million, +11 costs 4 million, and so on up to 12 million at +15, plus one Chaos Jewel and Blessing and Soul Jewels. If it fails, the item goes back to +0 and is never destroyed.

An item you drop on the ground disappears after 40 seconds and blinks in the last 5. If you close the Inventory with an item on the cursor and a full bag, it goes into the Vault when you are next to it; away from the Vault it falls on the ground and the notice reminds you that it disappears in 40 seconds (if the Inventory closes by itself, it stays on the cursor). To see all of this: open the Inventory with I, hunt golden monsters and bosses to find Boxes of Kundun, and talk to the Chaos Goblin in Noria (the green portal in the Village of Lumen, from level 10). The images show real gameplay with a test character.

What changed

  • Inventory like MU's: wood-colored cells with a golden rim, a bigger doll, no colored background behind items, doll pieces cropped to their own art, +N on every upgraded item.
  • On wide, short screens the doll sits beside the bag; an item you cannot use is grayed out with a red outline.
  • Box of Kundun +1: 30% from golden monsters, 1 in 3,000 common monsters, always from bosses; the equipment and Zen follow the level of the monster that dropped it.
  • Opening a box (right-click or drop it on the ground) scatters the treasure around you; only you pick it up for the first 10 seconds, and it stays on the ground for 2 minutes.
  • A Box of Kundun +1 never holds an Excellent item, a Chaos Jewel, a spirit or a Legendary item; old +2 to +5 boxes still open with their old contents.
  • Excellent items only from a golden monster (1%, on any map) or from each piece of equipment dropped by a monster of level 80 or higher (3%).
  • Chaos Jewel only from monsters of level 50 or higher; no merchant sells jewels.
  • Chaos Machine: 60/60/55/55/50/50% from +10 to +15, −10 points for an Excellent or Legendary item (not wings), Zen from 2 million at +10 up to 12 million at +15; on a failure the item goes back to +0 and is never destroyed.
  • An item dropped on the ground disappears in 40 seconds and blinks in the last 5; with a full bag, an item on the cursor goes into the Vault when you are next to it.
