Forgotten Mines and Sunken Atlantis: two huge free maps
Two new maps have arrived, free for every player: Sunken Atlantis, for levels 150 to 238, and the Forgotten Mines, for levels 250 to 342. Each has three regions, two bosses and almost three times the area of the Lumen Sewers. The Mines are the size of the Ruins of Kantara, and Atlantis is now the largest map in the game. Monsters are spread across the whole map, among camps, ruins and arenas, with no large empty areas: more than 2,700 in Atlantis and more than 1,400 in the Mines.
Sunken Atlantis is an ancient city at the bottom of the sea, with bubbles and shimmering light on the water along the way. It is split into the Coral Reef (levels 150 to 177), the Sunken City (185 to 213) and the Hydra Trench (220 to 238). The two bosses live in the Trench: the Trench Watcher (level 232), a giant eye that attacks from afar and calls for reinforcements, and Scylla, the Tide Beast (level 252), a three-headed beast. When Scylla drops to 66% and 33% health, her heads grow back: she recovers some health and calls two Hydra Spawn. For heroes between levels 150 and 238, Atlantis is another hunting option alongside Upper Devias.
How to get there: from level 150, step into the Tide Gate, the new portal in the Fairy Woods, in Noria (its sign shows Sunken Atlantis, level 150). You can also travel through the atlas (M key) near Selene, Keeper of Portals, in the Village of Lumen: Sunken Atlantis (level 150, 30,000 Zen), Sunken City (level 185, 35,000 Zen) or Hydra Trench (level 220, 40,000 Zen). On arrival you will find the Cove Outpost with Captain Maris, Sylwen the alchemist with potions, and Nerissa with the Account Vault. The Cove portal leads back to Noria, and at the end of the Trench another portal leads to the Ruins of Kantara from level 250.
The Forgotten Mines are old galleries where Kantara once mined crystal. They are split into the Shadow Galleries (levels 250 to 278), the Crystal Halls (284 to 305) and the Crystal Heart (318 to 342). Valgor, the Crystal Centaur (level 316), guards the far end of the Crystal Halls and calls Crystal Golems to help; Esteno, the Crystalline Gorgon (level 350), waits in the Crystal Heart with her Crystalline Gorgons.
How to get there: from level 250, travel through the atlas near Selene to the Forgotten Mines (level 250, 40,000 Zen), the Crystal Halls (level 284, 45,000 Zen) or the Crystal Heart (level 318, 50,000 Zen). There are also two new portals: one at the end of Upper Devias, in the Frozen Peaks, and another in the Courtyard of Gears, in the Ruins of Kantara. At the entrance is the Miners' Camp, with Brann, the Old Miner, and Ingrid, the alchemist with potions. The entrance portal leads to Noria. If you die or use a Return Scroll in Atlantis or the Mines, you go back to Noria.
The four bosses follow the game's boss rules, like other bosses of a similar level: they drop Zen, Blessing, Soul and Chaos Jewels, magic and rare equipment (sometimes excellent), Boxes of Kundun +1 and a chance of a legendary item, and they may drop a Dark Phoenix Feather and a Horse Spirit; Valgor, Scylla and Esteno may also drop a Condor Flame. They do not drop wings. Once defeated, they return after 25 minutes (Trench Watcher), 1 hour (Valgor and Scylla) or 1 hour 30 minutes (Esteno).
Experience keeps up with the new maps: heroes are now judged at their own level up to 342 (the limit used to be 299). This means Mines monsters give full experience to heroes past level 299, while hunting far below your level pays less. Townsfolk tips and the daily hunting and supply quests now send you to Atlantis and the Mines based on your level.
Ignarax, the Crimson Dragon, boss of the Fiery Abyss, has a new look, with animations in eight directions. Its stats, rewards and behavior stay the same.
There is also a new, rare monster in the Fairy Woods, in Noria: the Golden Goblin (level 13), with its own look and animations in eight directions. It is always golden: it has three times the health and gives four times the experience of a common monster of the same level. When defeated, it always drops Zen, a potion and a piece of equipment, almost always magic or rare (very rarely excellent), and it may also drop a Blessing Jewel and a Box of Kundun +1. There are three in the Woods, outside the town walls: one west, one north-east and one south of Noria. Each one returns to the same spot about 20 minutes after being defeated. You can recognize it by its golden color and the name above its head.
The new texts are available in Portuguese, English and Spanish. This article's images are actual captures of a local demonstration with fictional heroes created and equipped only for the test; the interface is shown in Portuguese. In the atlas, the new destinations appear as markers on the same continent illustration.
